What types of asbestos are there?

Chrysotile - The most common form found today in roofs, ceilings, walls and floors of homes and businesses.
Amosite - Known as brown asbestos, it was used most frequently in cement sheet and pipe insulation.
Crocidolite - Known as blue asbestos, it's known for having the best heat resistance. Commonly used to insulate steam engines, found in some spray-on coatings, pipe insulation and cement products.
Tremolite - Not used commercially, it was occasionally found in insulation products, paints, sealants and roofing materials.
Anthophyllite - A grey-brown colour. Most commonly found in composite flooring.
Actinolite - It's not as flexible as the others. Most often found in metamorphic rock.
